What is JAPANBITE?

We offer authentic traditional Japanese snacks and sweets called "WAGASHI" and related modern Japanese sweets. We select high-quality Japanese wagashi and deliver original assortments of them.
To elaborate WAGASHI further, "WA" means Japan and "GASHI (KASHI)" means confectionaries respectively in Japanese. WAGASHI are Japanese traditional sweets that are often served with green tea. Compared to Western confectioneries, WAGASHI uses less oil, spices, and dairy products, and is characterized by the use of grains such as rice and wheat, beans such as azuki and soybeans, and sugar as the main ingredients. In particular, bean paste made by processing beans is an important element in many of them.

We offer original assortments of high-quality authentic Japanese snacks and sweets. If you would like to find delicious Japanese food, we are your service! We carefully select our snacks and sweets with focusing on taste and luxury.

What is inside the box?

A product includes over 11 items in each box including pairing green tea. We curate Japanese snacks and sweets from all over Japan. For subscribers, the contents of the box change every subscription cycle.

Do you have subscription service?

JAPANBITE offers two subscription plans. Each is explained below, but for more information get in touch support@japanbite.com .

  1. One Month Subscription Plan: This is a monthly billed plan for monthly delivery. Auto renew.
  2. Three Months Subscription Plan: This is a prepaid plan for three months. Monthly delivery and billed every three months. Auto renew.

When is the expiration date of each product?

Our products contain a wide variety of snacks and each snack has a different expiration date. Japanese products display expiration dates in the format of Year/Month/Date.
We never sell expired items, but it can be a case that some items have a relatively short shelf life as we handle fresh and good items, and international delivery lead time sometimes takes very long due to weather or postal disruption, or customs delay. Basically, we select products with a shelf life of at least one month, but we strongly recommend that you consume received snacks as soon as possible. If you're worried that your snack has expired, send us a photo of the snack along with the expiration date to support@japanbite.com.

What allergens are present in this package?

How much is shipping fee?

Our International delivery is operated by Japan Post and its local postal affiliates. Shipping charges will apply for the second and subsequent payments. A Shipping fee is charged every time of delivery in addition to the product price.

When does my box ship?

Your one-time orders and the first order of subscription purchases will be shipped within 2 weeks by Japan Post. Since some products made by local artisans have a relatively short shelf life, we adopt a pre-order basis sales method to ensure that products are always delivered in fresh condition. Your local postal service affiliated with Japan Post will make the final delivery. As for recurring subscriptions, products will be shipped around the 25th of each month.

What is the product delivery cycle?

Your one-time orders and the first order of subscription purchases will be shipped within 2 weeks via Japan Post.

For continued subscription purchases, the automatic recurring payment is made on the 16th; we will ship the products around the 25th of each month. Therefore, the timing for the second box depends on the date of the initial order. Using January as an example, here are the explanations for two patterns:

Pattern 1) If you order the first subscription box between January 1st 00:00 and January 15th 23:59, the first box will be shipped within 2 weeks, and the second box will be shipped around February 25th, the third box around March 25th, and so forth.

Pattern 2) If you order the first subscription box between January 16th 00:00 and January 31st 23:59, the first box will be shipped within 2 weeks, and the second box around March 25th , the third box around April 25th, and so forth.

All orders are processed in Japan Standard Time(JST).

My box/order has shipped. How long will it take to arrive?

Products normally arrive 10-14 days after the ship date, but please allow up to 3 weeks as there might be local customs or weather delays. We send you the tracking number by email once we ship an item. You can check the delivery tracking information at Japan Post website.
Due to the possibility of these delays caused by weather, postal conditions, and customs clearance, we ask you to wait for the above time period to inquire about lost or missing products. If you receive a message from the post office regarding a damaged or lost box, please do not hesitate to send us an email with a photo of the message so we can send you a new one immediately.

How can I track my order?

You can track your order by obtaining the tracking number from the shipping confirmation email sent to you and then using it to track the package via the shipping service provider.

Please note that purchase confirmation email does not have tracking number. Tracking number will be ready after shipping confirmation.

How do I change my shipping address for subscription?

Once you subscribe, go to "Subscriptions" on your account page and change Product Shipping Info to change your future recurring orders.

1. Go to "Subscriptions" on your account page
2. Click "See more details" of the subscription you want to change your address
3. Select "Edit" of the "Product Shipping Info" field on the Upcoming tab


Please note that "Addresses" on your account page are preset addresses for future use on the checkout page, and changing the default address here doesn't mean changing your recurring subscription shipping address.

How do I see my subscription status?

Please go to "Subscriptions" on your account page and click "See more details" of the subscription you want to see.

How can I change to a different subscription plan?

Please contact us at support@japanbite.com to change your subscription plan, while we are updating our account page.

How do I skip a month for next subscription order?

Follow the instructions below to skip 1 month for a subscription order

1. Go to "Subscriptions" on your account page
2. Click "See more details" of the subscription you want to skip
3. Select "Skip Order" on the Upcoming tab

Then your next order will be skipped for one time.
Please note that if you are on a prepaid plan, you can skip a box next month, and the next recurring billing day will also be delayed by one month.

How can I change the delivery interval?

For 1-month pay-as-you-go plan users,
Follow the instructions below to change the delivery interval from 1 month to an extended term for the subscription order.

1. Go to "Subscriptions" on your account page
2. Click "See more details" of the subscription you want to change
3. Select "Edit Frequency" on the Upcoming tab

Then, your delivery interval will be extended for subscription orders.

For 3-month prepaid plan users,
Please contact us at support@japanbite.com to change your subscription plan to a pay-as-you-go plan, then you can change the delivery interval.

How can I cancel my subscription?

Follow the instructiosn below to cancel your subscription. Please note that your cancellation has to be made by the day before your next billing day.

1. Go to "Subscriptions" on your account page
2. Click "See more details" of the subscription you want to cancel
3. Scroll down the Upcoming tab and click "Cancel Subscription" to cancel it

Please note that canceling your subscription only prevents your subscription from renewing in the future; it does not cancel orders already placed.

How can I redeem discount coupons as a subscriber

Subscription members can apply a discount code to your next automatic payment from your account page!

STEP1.  Please click the account icon in the top right corner on JAPANBITE website.

Billing and Refund

Do you accept payments other than USD?

Sorry, we only accept payments in U.S. dollars.

What is the billing cycle?

As for one-time purchases and the first order of subscription, the payment shall be processed right after completing the order, or the order shall be completed by the payment.
The recurring subscription orders are billed at 00:00 on the 1st of each month except for the month following your first order. All order times shall be processed in Japan Standard Time(JST).


Example: 2-month-cycle subscription
Assuming your 2-month-cycle subscription order/Pay as You Go Plan has been initiated on January 20th,

  • January 20: Being billed for the first box
  • Mid-February: Receive the first box
  • April 1: Being billed for the second box.
  • Mid-April: Receive the second box
  • June 1: Being billed for the third box.
  • Mid-June: Receive the third box

and the same cycle after this.

Do I have to pay VAT, customs taxes, or fees?

We are afraid that we are NOT responsible for VAT, customs taxes, or fees that you may be charged by your country.

Please check your country's customs regulations or rules. Each country has different rules regarding the customs fee and tax to process shipments from other countries.

What is your return/refund policy?

Any amounts paid for the products and services of JAPANBITE are final and non-refundable.
We do not accept any returned orders or items because snacks and sweets JAPANBITE curates as gourmet services are perishable.

Your cancellation order must be made before the renewal/next order date if you do not wish to be charged for future deliveries. Subscription renewals are non-refundable.

If your order has been delayed and hasn't arrived within 3 weeks from the ship date, please reach out to support@japanbite.com. Missing or lost orders must be reported within 6 weeks from the shipping confirmation date to be eligible for reimbursement.
